Consecrated in 579 by Patriarch Elia, the church comprises the most significant archeological evidence of the lagoon town's history.
Alongside this majestic building stands a tall, sturdy medieval belltower, topped by the Anzolo (angel) that has become the town symbol. Inside, the harmonious architectural design is marked by the warm rhythm of colonnades and the sophisticated patterns of the magnificent mosaic floor.
